Established in 1965, Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College (SBPGC) stands as a prominent educational institution in Old Dhaka, Bangladesh. Named in honor of Imaamut Tareeqat Allama Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad Burhanuddin Uwaysi (Rad.), a revered spiritual leader and reformer, the college was founded by the non-political Islamic organization Neda-e-Islam to commemorate his legacy. SBPGC is affiliated with the National University of Bangladesh and offers a range of programs across Science, Arts, and Business Studies disciplines at the Higher Secondary, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels. The college is committed to providing quality education in a non-political and Islamic environment, aligning with its motto, May Allah increase in knowledge. With modern facilities and a dedicated faculty, SBPGC continues to foster academic excellence and spiritual values.
Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College commenced its journey in 1965 at 50, Narinda, Dhaka, a site significant for being where Imaamut Tareeqat had established and managed twenty educational institutions during his lifetime. In 1968, the college was relocated to its current premises at 62, Nazimuddin Road, Dhaka, formerly the Old Radio Broadcasting Center. This move facilitated the expansion of the college's infrastructure and academic programs, aligning with its mission to provide quality education in a non-political and Islamic environment. The college's establishment aimed to implement Article 3(C) of the Memorandum of Neda-e-Islam, promoting an Islamic spiritual reformed environment in general and modern education.
Over the decades, Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College has upheld its founding principles, providing education that harmonizes spiritual values with modern academic pursuits. Its non-political stance and focus on Islamic ethics have distinguished it as a unique institution in Bangladesh's educational landscape. The college boasts modern facilities, including air-conditioned classrooms, a rich central library, departmental seminar rooms, and a campus-wide wireless network. To enhance the learning experience, SBPGC has implemented digital classroom facilities and installed smart water filter systems. The entire campus is under CCTV surveillance, ensuring a secure and conducive environment for education. As it continues to evolve, SBPGC remains dedicated to nurturing knowledgeable and morally grounded individuals who contribute positively to society.
